World Wetlands Day 2025: highlighting our wetland scientists

This week (February 2nd) marks World Wetlands Day, a reminder of the vital role wetlands play in biodiversity, climate resilience, and clean water. At Winterbrook Planning, we are committed to preserving these critical ecosystems through expert wetland science and thoughtful land use planning.

Today, we want to shine a light on our Senior Wetland Scientists, Anita Smyth and Phil Quarterman, who bring decades of experience in wetland permitting, restoration, and resource protection.

Phil’s 40+ years in natural resource planning include extensive work in wetland delineation, mitigation, and restoration. A passionate advocate for long-term ecological preservation, Phil finds fulfillment in projects that leave a lasting natural resource legacy.

This World Wetlands Day, we reaffirm our commitment to integrating environmental stewardship into every project we undertake, by creating a balance between the manmade and natural environements.
