Sweet Home’s City Council reviews housing production strategy
Winterbrook Planning is excited to support the City of Sweet Home in its development of a Housing Production Strategy (HPS), aimed at addressing local housing needs.
At the October 8th work session, Larissa Gladding, presented key strategies to promote affordable housing, such as publicizing code updates that allow for middle housing types like duplexes and ADUs. She also introduced ready-to-go housing prototypes to streamline the permitting process. Additional recommendations included revising System Development Charges (SDCs) and supporting local rehabilitation programs to enhance housing options. Community outreach efforts by Kearns and West earlier this year, and roundtable discussions, help inform the strategies the city is working with.
These strategies aim to meet Sweet Home’s projected housing needs as the city grows. By addressing both current challenges and future demands, the HPS will guide the development of diverse, affordable housing for residents across income levels.

Winterbrook Planning will continue to assist the city in finalizing and implementing the strategy, with the final draft expected to be reviewed by the City Council in November. Stay tuned!
