Silverton Pettit Reservoir Trail
Project Categories
Pettit Reservoir (named for astronaut Don Pettit, who owned the property and is currently the oldest active astronaut) lies immediately south of the Oregon Garden and was acquired by the City of Silverton for use as a park. The project focuses on construction of a trail system beginning at the Oregon Garden, descending past a series of treatment ponds, and creating a pedestrian loop around the reservoir. The project negotiated steep slopes, proposes a boardwalk that minimized impacts to Brush Creek and wetlands adjacent to the creek and reservoir, and interpretive signage. Winterbrook prepared the wetland delineations for the project and worked with project landscape architects at NV5 to design the boardwalk to take advantage of simpler permitting for structures rather than traditional trail construction. Winterbrook prepared a detailed evaluation of the land use context and requirements at the site and worked with the team on a design fully compliant with standards, avoiding Hillside Protection variances and other land use reviews.
