Last night, Winterbrook Planning cofounder Tim Brooks attended a virtual presentation on the Master Plan for Leach Botanical Garden, led by Richard Hartlage, President of Land Morphology. This award winning plan, developed by Land Morphology in collaboration with Portland Parks & Recreation, serves as a blueprint for the garden’s potential growth and captures the unique spirit of Leach Botanical. It encompasses not only horticultural dreams but also sustainable strategies for future events, education, and visitor engagement.
Winterbrook Planning has a long-standing history with Leach Botanical Garden. Principal Tim Brooks has been involved for almost 40 years, initially preparing plant inventories, designing plant labels, and serving on the Education Committee.
More recently, Winterbrook led the land use and environmental planning for the Upper Garden Development Project, which includes new botanical collections, facilities, and visitor amenities. This project—highlighted by a spectacular tree walk and pollinator meadow—has become a defining feature of Leach’s landscape, drawing visitors from all over. Winterbrook is proud to have contributed to Leach’s evolving legacy and to support the vision of this cherished Portland landmark.
