Washington Park Reservoir project recognized at Restoration Celebration 2026

Last week, Restore Oregon honored nine outstanding preservation projects across Oregon at Restoration Celebration 2026, held at the Historic Dance Pavilion at Oaks Park — and we were thrilled to see the Washington Park Reservoir Improvement Project (one of our many Portland Water Bureau projects) recognized among them. Tim Brooks attended on behalf of Winterbrook Planning, and Marilee Hanks of Knot Studio accepted the award on stage.

Winterbrook Planning led land use and environmental compliance for the complex, decades-long effort to rehabilitate the nationally significant Washington Park Reservoirs. The project replaced the aging, open-air reservoirs with a seismically reinforced underground facility, built within an active landslide zone without disturbing the historic footprint above, while restoring the site’s Romanesque dams, gatehouses, and ironwork, and adding new reflecting pools and promenades for the public to enjoy.

Congratulations to all of this year’s DeMuro Award winners!
