Winterbrook Hears Lafayette’s Housing Priorities at the Harvest Festival

Winterbrook Planning is thrilled to be working with the City of Lafayette on its Housing Capacity Analysis (HCA)! Funded by an Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development (DLCD) housing grant, the project gives the City an updated understanding of its residential land supply and will identify housing policy changes to help meet housing needs. Community input is central, from committee meetings and interviews with local officials to public events and hearings through 2027.

Lafayette Buildable Lands Inventory

Our latest stop was the Lafayette Harvest Festival last weekend, a lively event with games, food, music, and vendors. Keava and Morgan helped visitors navigate a Buildable Lands Inventory map and a bilingual (English and Spanish) project timeline and housing ranking activity.

HCA timeline

About 66 people ranked their top housing priorities for the next 20 years. The top three:

  1. Be Affordable – “Housing that is financially accessible (rent or own) to the people who live in this community.”
  2. Be Good Quality – “Housing that is durable, long-lasting, and easy to maintain for both owners and residents.”
  3. Be Near Community Amenities – “Housing that is near amenities which are shared, including but not limited to schools, parks, healthcare, grocery, transit, walking paths, etc.”

Affordability and community amenities were most often named participants’ number one priority.

People shared what they love about Lafayette, including its small-town feel and walkability, along with thoughtful concerns about costs, traffic, and growth.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by! Your voices will help shape the HCA.
