Willamette Week features Columbia Children’s Arboretum

recently highlighted the Columbia Children’s Arboretum, one of our recent environmental planning projects in Portland:

“The approximately 28-acre nature park is off the beaten path for most, but residents of North and Northeast Portland consider it a secret treasure—a reasonably accessible, bona fide pastoral, fantastically tree-lined respite from the overwhelming noise of urban living.”

Winterbrook Planning assisted NNA LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE LLC with environmental documentation and permitting for trail and shelter improvements at the Columbia Children’s Arboretum. Winterbrook provided guidance on park design, which include trail improvements, new ADA access, new shelter and park furnishings, and native plantings to enhance Columbia Slough riparian habitat. The area around the site was proposed as a park in 1904 by landscape architect John Charles Olmsted.

It’s great to see the community appreciating our work!
