Winterbrook Planning attended the grand opening celebration for Mahonia Crossing, a transformative affordable housing community in Salem’s South Gateway neighborhood. The 313-unit, $115-million development will serve low-income families and seniors, including those displaced by recent wildfires.

Representing Winterbrook at the ribbon-cutting, Ben Schonberger, AICP, Senior Planner, celebrated the successful completion of the development. The community has been intentionally designed and programmed to foster intergenerational connection, encouraging people of all ages to live, work, and play together.

Mahonia Crossing shared spaces

Winterbrook led the land-use permitting process for Mahonia Crossing. Winterbrook worked with Community Development Partners, PLACE, Scott Edwards Architecture, and Salem officials through two phases of site plan and design review.
